Forget about joining a real band. Playing Rock Band 2 is a lot more enjoyable. Here's why.

Fewer chances to contract diseases

Rock stars attract throngs of people itching to throw their panties at them and go back stage. That's usually followed by lots of booze and sex, which is great until somebody brings an unwanted visitor (virus, bacteria) to the party. Look, we're not saying you can't catch a sexually transited disease because of Rock Band 2, but you won't tour the country and sleep with hundreds of infected while playing it. Actually, who are we kidding? You're not going anywhere.

proud2beawildcat - "thruition" is not a word. "incompetant" is spelled "incompetent". I hate when people act smart and mess it up my inventing and misspelling words. Anyways, just chill man. Not everyone wants to be a rockstar. I used to play violin now I play electric bass. The games are fun too. Your dream might be to be a rock star but good luck on that one.

OK, listen here "proud2beawildcat". Not all people that play Rock Band are too lazy to learn real instruments. I play expert level on all Rock Band instruments and also play real guitar, real drums, piano, and every brass instrument there is. Now, at the same time, I agree that playing Rock Band is MUCH easier and not even close to playing a real instrument. But at the same time you have to realize that just because someone plays Rock Band doesn't mean they can't play real instruments.

for all you who read this and agreeing with this, its just sad. people now are saying they are more satisfied with sitting in front of a tv and playing a game alone then being in a band, successful or not. if you are reading this saying im wrong and your older then 13 years old im srry, get a life

You people need to calm down. I don't know ANY Rock Band player who believes that by being good at the game they're good at an instrument. It is a GAME- little kids who want to be rock stars aren't stupid enough to believe that this game will help them with that. I am a musician, a real one, and I agree that playing this doesn't mean I can play guitar. It means that I am good at a VIDEO GAME. Rock Band does, however, help with the basics of counting and keeping in time, so don't go dissing it because you think it's a musician's rip off. Players who post YouTube videos of themselves doing well post such because they're proud of doing well at a hard VIDEO GAME. Not a hard GUITAR or DRUMS. Of course you can be successful in a real band, but people by it because IT. IS . A. GAME. The ones who need lives are the people dissing this game- go out and open that tiny little box you live in. Do people who play Zelda need to go out and learn how to use a real sword? Or ride a real horse? No, because all they're doing is playing a video game for entertainment. And, just like no one is stupid enough to believe that they can wield a sword after beating Zelda, no one believes they can play guitar or drums after playing Guitar Hero/Rock Band. So stop assuming they're stupid. Rock band is NOT for people too lazy to learn an instrument, because many people who play the game can actually play an instrument. Oh, and guess what? This game is cheaper than a real guitar. Insert "too poor" in for "lazy" and you'll be accurate, and being poor is not necessarily something you can help. This GAME is for people who don't have the time or desire to be in a real rock band, but want to have fun with friends playing a GAME. If any of you seriously believe that this game makes people think they're real rockstars, YOU'RE the ones who need to go play in traffic.

good god... why are we even making a list?? Rockband is for people who: a) are too lazy to learn an instrument. b) are incompetant enough to not be able to learn an instrument. c) other people that aren't music junkies. A Real Band is for people who: a) want their lifelong childhood rockstar dream to come to thruition. b) are wanting to be the best...period. c) want to lead a successful life in something they LOVE doing. Regardless...put down your damn rockband controller and get a real guitar, because I am SICK of people who put videos of themselves on youtube saying "omfg, i got 98% on expert!! Hehehehehe!!" Good god, think I am impressed?? I will be impressed if you play guitar or any other instrument and write a song, that is a TRUE musician, people who sit on couches playing Don't Fear The Reaper (great song) on a controller while looking at flashing buttons and comparing that to actually getting off your fat tuckus and learning a lifelong skill that will impress many. Long story short...Rockband is a fun game...A GAME!!! You can't compare playing Rockband with 3 friends to playing a gig down at the open mic ***ht at a coffee shop. Rockband is a game!! And that is all it will ever be!!

man all of u just to need relax u are taking the artical waaaaaaaaaaay to freakin serious.its a GAME and its fun just like a real band.both take talent and time.As for the people some of u are calling "lazy" just because they play u are wrong. it gets people KIDS more involded they are just not sitting on a couch with controller in hand they are up and moving around and can be involded with others kids.Man its a good party breaker . plus i know quite a few people who very much enjoy playing rock band and guitar hero and who are very talented on the"REAL" drums bass and guitar. :-P
