Then: Sonic the Hedgehog
Sega shocked the video game world with Sonic the Hedgehog, who was in stark contrast to Nintendo's Mario. Here was a hedgehog with attitude that moved at lightning speeds while everyone's favorite (and fat) little plumber just plodded along. You can even see by the look on Sonic's face that he isn't afraid to finger point. If anything, his head was too close to his chest, which made it look like he didn't have a neck.

this is the dumbest article ever... there was no damn make over Mario has always ben drawn like that even in the first Mario Bros. and Donkey Kong games when they did the art on the machines or pretty damn close to it. It's just they never had the ability to use graphic to that extent until recently. It is obvious that the designs were only limited by technology of the time not some "Big Time Video Make Over Gurus" out there...
Has anyone else noticed how all of AOL's lists are very nintendo heavy. Why doesnt solid snake make an appearance in this list???
I agree with Imaneopetsgirl, actually. Ganondorf should've been put in there. :/ I'm often disappointed by these articles.
And apparently, I didn't realize that message failure screen meant I was actually posting...Sorry guys. -10 points Zanderbluff...-10 points..
Dude, Bowser started as a hybrid turtle/dragon thing, though they did change his name. And will kill on site? I suppose that means that he'll kill you if he finds you at a specific location, so stay off his turf--but my guess is that Bowser is more of the will kill on sight sort, meaning, if he sees you, he will kill you. Much more badass. -10 points, Chris...-10 points.

I didn't know they changed King Koopa's name. I know I haven't had a mario bros game since Super Mario Bros 3 for NES but I thought King Koopa sounded kind of cool maybe cause I was like 4 or 5 at the time. I been calling him Koopa, some kids probably don't even know who King Koopa is and at 22 that makes me feel old. Guess it wouldn't be such a surprise if I got a Nintendo since SNES.
uhh... Didnt you forget that mario used to have red overalls?
this is awesome! But... I feel that you are forgetting Ganondorf. He used to be a pig in the very first games. Now he's a human with a very long nose.
