Although we don't know much about the universe, video game designers taught us that it's a wonderful place to kill things. Over the past 30 years, we've blasted aliens, destroyed starships, explored different planets and in some cases, ran like hell. With that, here are the top 25 video games that take place in space (involving battling and/or flying around in space -- no Starcraft here, sorry!). Slip into your suit and remember, when the you-know-what hits the fan, blow your oxygen tank.

I think if Mass Effect is in there, then so is Starcraft. Some of the maps in Starcraft took place in space stations and your aerial units can traverse across the map, sometimes with nothing underneath them but space, to the next location. Where's the X games, that only took place in space? Good cover story I think, but a bit more research could've been done.
Hey where's spore!?! The game is so awesome! At least some of its based on space!
i noticed a guy up there ^^ mentioned that Halo ripped off things from Halo ... way to go ... if you're gonna insult something ... do it right :]
not to be picky but I think galaga deseres a spot WAYYYYY more than HALO does
UM HELLO GALAGA WAS THE SECOND EVER GAME TO TAKE PLACE IN SPACE AND IT WAS A HUGE HIT WHY IS IT NOT ON THIS LIST!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Halo ripped off 50,000 things from the Halo series, which also had space aliens and battles on another planet *ahem*
I haven't heard of half these games ._. But I'm glad to see Mass Effect make the Top 10.
