25. Powerslave (Lobotomy Software)
One of the slickest first-person shooters of its time, Powerslave lets you battle evil Egyptian forces by not only using traditional handguns, but special powers such as the Ring of Ra (which shoots red fireballs) and the Sacred Manacle (which hurls bolts of lighting at your opponents). You can also improve your jumping, swimming skills and levitation skills. Sadly, it looks like we'll never get a sequel to this one.

Good article. Not a huge FPS fan, but I remember a lot of the first-generation games u mentioned. Sounds like there are a couple of older PC games I need to pick up just for fun. ^_^ P/S - Valve is an amazing studio. They keep coming up with really fun games that are challenging, but inviting to new gamers as well. I've loved Portal, Half-Life, and L4D (which is probably my newest favorite FPS game).
Dude, I've played Golden Eye. I don't seee they hype because it isn't that great. I found it boring. Same with Halo. I don't like most FPS games but the computer has some good ones and even the Wii has a couple (even though they could use a lot more). Don't give me any crap about how Xbox FPS is better because they aren't. Too many f-ucking controls for something that can be as simple as pointing and shooting.
Why do you think all this virtual talk keeps turning us back to games of old?...THEY HAVEN'T MADE A DESCENT GAME IN YEARS AND YEARS; THE INDUSTRY IS DIRT AND YOU ALL KEEP PAYING THEM ANYWAY! Postscript: Goldeneye was best FPS by heaps and bounds. God this is a ****** time to be alive if you have any brains at all

gta5brian.... Creaming-fan-boys doesn't make good series. And most of the Halo fans said 3 sucked ass. So they'd probably all be pissed at Bungie. And you fail to notice that all the Half-Life fans are sitting around turning themselves into pretzels waiting for Half-Life 2 Episode 3. Not even a full game. We're ripping ourselves apart waiting for a small episode! So yeah, it deserves a good spot. HOWEVER, I just noticed a big flaw. This game may not be technically much of a shooter, but Portal is one of the greatest games of all time, and it IS in first-person view.
I disagree that the half life series is the number 1 FPS i mean its a good series and all but if bungie were to say that halo4 were to come out today people would jump out to buy it and the record numbers suggest it as well.

It's amazing how many fanboy dorks there are on this kind of site. There are people who are like "OMG HALO3 GOT HEAPS OF SALES LOL BEST GAME EVOR!!!!111LOLOLOL!11", and the people who are like "OMG COD4 GOT HEAPS OF SALES LOL BEST GAME EVOR!!!!111LOLOLOL!11". Yes, Halo is good. Yes, Call of Duty is good. Are any of them the best game of all time? No. You've most likely been playing games for about 1 year, so don't pretend you know **** about games like DOOM or Half-Life. They had a FAR greater impact than Halo 3 or CoD4 ever had. I just have one question: What happened to System Shock 2? Or is that grouped under Bioshock? It's a ****ing internet list, get over it. I doubt a single person who has posted here has played ALL of these games.
Hahahahahaha, I love Halo-kiddies and CS-***s who think these games are the greatest thing ever because millions of people play them. And just because someone hasn't spilled the few dollars it would cost now to play Half-Life doesn't mean it deserves a lower spot. This is my favorite list GD has EVER done, because most just blow. Doom and Half-Life are the single greatest FPS games to be ever created. Why would Counter-Strike ever be above Half Life on the list? It's so insanely boring if you ask me, and if it wasn't for Half-Life, it WOULDN'T EVEN EXIST! And SpanIrish, what are you, 13? "OMGZ IT WAS MADE IN 90S AND DUSNT HAS GUD GRAPHIKZ IT HAS 2 MUST BE SUX DUH LOL!!!" Do us all a favor, donate your PC, and smash any console you own. You aren't a real gamer. Halo-Kiddies are so adorable when they try to claim Halo is the best thing ever...... Halo is just another sci-fi FPS. Screw you're "new age" BS..... Fancy graphics and the necessity to own a 4,000 dollar computer does NOT make a game good. Good game PLAY make a game good.
