25. Powerslave (Lobotomy Software)
One of the slickest first-person shooters of its time, Powerslave lets you battle evil Egyptian forces by not only using traditional handguns, but special powers such as the Ring of Ra (which shoots red fireballs) and the Sacred Manacle (which hurls bolts of lighting at your opponents). You can also improve your jumping, swimming skills and levitation skills. Sadly, it looks like we'll never get a sequel to this one.

Tribes?.... how about DeAD SPACE! and COunter Strike number 5?...bs number 1 boii!
i wanna know why call of duty 4 modern warfare is on this list
metroid prime isnt a fps its an adventure game...idiots
hey, notsonice, resident evil is not a fps. do you play the game from the first person? i don't think so. i believe starwars battlefront 2 lists the over the sholder view as THIRD PERSON VIEW. would you consider any shooting game with this view as standard a fps? no, of course the view can be changed so that you can "stare" down the gun sights, aka first person view. you sir are a noob, and give other noobs a horribly bad name. the term "fps" is just a catch all, for all games involving controlled motion and gunplay, however if you go by the actuall definition, then any game where you have a gun and THE OPTION of first person view is a fps. xmc is probably the smartest person here.
javascript: do***ent.commentForm.submit();O.o I guess I have to repeat spazn, but stop complaining about the sequels. They clearly mention the sequels in the descriptions. . . :P @frankbonaventure, Tribes was retarded D: Red Faction was fun and all, but it wasn't all that great >.
XMC, you are 100% wrong. Rail Shooters do not count as FPS genre. There are TPS(third person shooters), FPS(first person shooters), and of course RS(Rail Shooters) to name a few... Resident Evil is Survival Horror. Now that it happens to be from a 3rd person perspective, should we call it a third person shooter? The answer is obviously no... They should have had Red Faction, Perfect Dark, BF2(not2142), and many more. This is the worst top list I have ever seen.
it's not right, the track runner label is an opinion, and i don't think it warrants questioning the merits of this article. the title of the article is "Top 25 First-Person Shooters of All Time", not "Top 25 First-Person Shooters Where You Have the Ability to Move Around Freely of All Time". you shoot things from the first-person point of view...that's all there is to it, it's not rocket science. if you want to say the list should have included perfect dark, or something to that nature, then i'd completely agree, but to nit-pick something where you don't even have a sound argument is just petty.
The whole track runner thing is right, it shouldn't count. FPS references how you can travel and shoot enemies, evading shots and using cover. Even though I play a 360, Resistance probably should be somewhere, maybe in the teens. Near the top this is fairly accurate, but the bottom of the list is messed up.
halfe life is the **** good top 25
solidyob: could you please cite a valid reference for the definitions of 'FPS' and 'track runner'. you can't just make up your own gaming definition and then complain that game daily isn't using it. sorry, wikipedia isn't a valid reference. seriously, who complains about definitions of words or phrases that aren't defined in a dictionary?
