25. Powerslave (Lobotomy Software)
One of the slickest first-person shooters of its time, Powerslave lets you battle evil Egyptian forces by not only using traditional handguns, but special powers such as the Ring of Ra (which shoots red fireballs) and the Sacred Manacle (which hurls bolts of lighting at your opponents). You can also improve your jumping, swimming skills and levitation skills. Sadly, it looks like we'll never get a sequel to this one.

i think its is really good and doom is the best game, except from bioshock which is crazy and they announced bioshock 2 and 3

Overall, this was a pretty good list. There were a couple of games where I thought, "this should be high up, and this should be lower", but that'll happen with just about any list. And as much as I love Halo, if it was gonna be beaten by anything, I'm glad it was Doom and Half-Life. Doom mainstreamed the FPS genre, and Half-Life.... for it's time, just wow, what an engrossing game.

the quake series is easily top ten material, maybe even top 5, and yes the bond series went down hill after goldeneye but it set the precident. so it deserves a little better. ive never played halflife, and all i play are fps games and racing games, just like all my friends, and none of us have any halflife games, duke nukem was fun , but it got old fast, and halo over call of duty anyday,!!!!!

i would have to say that not only does this gallary thing sucks... but most of these are out of place and deserve a better rep.... even though i have'nt even played some of these... i dont think half life is the best ever either... and you cant posibly make a number 1 cause theres a million good games that could make this list...

All the top ones were innovative people dissing BF just dont know what those games brought to the table with the exception of Halo and a few spots I disagree with I'd say the 25 there are certainly the best of FPS, Halo just got kinda lucky with timing, I mean it was the first high production value FPS on the XBOX so of course it got a huge following.. Anyhow I personally think its a great list of mainstream FPS and all are certainly very fun games =]

battlefront blows big time!!! The #1 fps imo should have been medal of honor or counterstrike, and come to think of it counterstrike has been out for awhile, and many people still play it religiously.

...and Marathon isn't on this list because...? It seriously is one of the greatest FPS games of all time and is so underrated. Way before Bungie ever thought of Halo (though they seem to be set in the same universe). All these games are good and all, but Marathon definately should've been on the list somewhere.
