Sony's juggernaut console has hundreds of games, but these 25 shine the brightest. Guess which one is first. You're probably wrong.

25. Contra: Shattered Soldier (Konami)

It's time to grit your teeth, cock your weapon and show the world what you're made of. Contra: Shattered Soldier is the meatiest Contra game to date, only because it's the most difficult one ever made. That's just fine by us, though. Along with the challenge, you'll also find Shattered Soldier's gritty graphics and rock soundtrack par for the course.

SOCOM, FFX, KH1 and 2, no remastered collections, the SSX series (except world tour-don't know what the hell happened there), the Soul Calibur series? You really mean to tell me Sly Cooper is on here over all of these? Really? God of War is on here for both titles, yet you only did one FF title. GTA 3 was CLUTCH for the PS2, and defined as a new gaming experience that set the bar for EVERYONE. I'm pretty sure whoever did this was listing the games they like/still own and just calling it "Top 25 PlayStation 2 Games of All Time". This list is trash.

where was Jak and Daxter? definitely should've been on there with some other games.

Aw come on. Don't beat up on Final Fantasy X and X-2! I haven't played X-2 but don't beat it up! Don't call it a girl game and stuff. Even though I am a girl, my older brother and our friend (a guy) play the game. He comes over and plays it with us. And hear it, we love it. We have a blast. He's played it like 5 times, so appearently its not a girl game. We even have fun messing with the story and stuff. We talk about it all the time, and make fun of Seymour cause he gets i the way of Tidus and Yuna. But whatever maybe we're weird or something. But we love this game and I know a lot of people who do. So please don't bash it! God bless!

...Wow. One VERY strong thing that made me mad. DMC3 is on there...I love that game, but it's a DMC4 SCREENSHOT! Not even that, but the BETA of DMC4! What the hell! And where's DMC1?! Now, for the people bashing Ico...uh, I got it when it first came out, and it was like the evolution of gaming and proved the power of the ps2 in the early stages. That's one thing you people need to realize is WHAT these games did when they came out, not NOW. As for the idiot that said "WHERE'S GUITAR HERO 1 and 2?!" ...Two is on there...Rofl. And yeah, I didn't like SOCOM, but I believe it deserves its place over GD Sly Cooper. That game really wasn't anything new, but SOCOM was. and WHERE IS KILLZONE OR BLACK!?!?

What? are these people serious? Where are all the good RPG's at? I love final fantasy but not one good game came out on PS2 (nor even dirge of cerberus) Cartoony action games like ratchet and clank do not belong on any top list except maybe #1 on the top selling game to kids ages 4-10. GTA vice city did get about the right rank though, i mustve clocked almost 400 hours in that game, didnt care too much for any of the others. God of war was good but it wasnt THAT good. Gameplay was easy even on the hardest setting compared to most action games and why does he have swords on a chain? did they get the idea from 8 Bit theatre (google it) when fighter suggested sword-chucks? here's my top 5 if anyones interested: 1. Star Ocean: Till the end of time - Beautiful graphics, great storyline, and a fun battle system 2. Warhammer 40,000: Fire Warrior - Amazing FPS with many different sci-fi weapons including rockets, railguns, energy chaingun, missile/nuke, and tons of others along with my alltime favorite M4 assault rifle with a boosted clip :) 3. GTA:Vice City 4. Phantasy Star Universe/Ambitions of the Illuminous - Great Graphics, incredibly customizable, 100's of weapons with about 20 different types of weapons, 4 Races, storymode/extra(create your own character)/ and an online mode ...maybe this should be my #1 haha 5. Growlanser - Probably the most fun i've had playing an action RPG in a long time.
