Sony's juggernaut console has hundreds of games, but these 25 shine the brightest. Guess which one is first. You're probably wrong.

25. Contra: Shattered Soldier (Konami)

It's time to grit your teeth, cock your weapon and show the world what you're made of. Contra: Shattered Soldier is the meatiest Contra game to date, only because it's the most difficult one ever made. That's just fine by us, though. Along with the challenge, you'll also find Shattered Soldier's gritty graphics and rock soundtrack par for the course.

word soul caliber too...soul of taki all the way..tekken is B.fury all day.i refuse to believe god of war is number one..cool music and a lil eye candy but that s**t is a straight button masher in my opinion.

Man WTF? GoW is a great game, but no where near the best! What about Kingdom Hearts? Jak and Daxter? Soul Calibur for f**ks sake! And FF 12 was good, but dont tell me the story was good, dont even compare it to FF 7, they dont even belong in the same sentence. GoW didnt even need to be in there twice, let alone the first one being the " No. 1" game on the PS2. You guys need to get out of you lil corporate bubbles and play some real games.

im with ddrjarred ..tekken is the greatest game as far as function and playabilty goes,my personal opinion tekken is the greatest game of all time!!! if you dont agree you just dont know how to play--- and that is the truth!!!!

First, how many of you have played all 15 games on this list? Both GOWs, Resident evil 4 (althought it should have been higher) twisted metal black AND Ratchet and clank UYA all deserve their spots. I have never been a fan of the GTA series, all it is to me is a glorified racing/ shooter its nothing new. There are many cons however, my suggestion to the authors is to enhance your ps2 library. I suggest starting with the Max Payne, Onimusha, and Manhunt series. But I reflect what many people have already made clear, there are many games here that dont belong. To many. Like 85% too many. FFXII? Ever hear o*****uy named Cloud? Oh but he was psx wasent he.. o well. He still kicks the crap outa Titus. Thumbs down.

You got all your games messed up! how can god of war come in first when Games Like the Metal Gear Solid series or Resident evil series were always first hit classics? I dont think game daily knows what they're talking about. and obviously dont know crap about games. next time hit the streets and see what people say. not what the company likes

Lastly, if you're going to say Okami due to gameplay and graphics, you need to include Viewtiful Joe, the predecessor created by Capcom/Clover. It also had a new way to experience gameplay, the same graphics team, and unique style and progression. Oh, and it came out BEFORE Okami.

Onimusha series, BOTH Tekkens on PS2, Persona, Phatasy Star, Star Ocean, Valkyrie Profile 2, I can keep digging. Why did we bother putting GH2 in here? At least it's better than 3. What the **** is Amplitude? Hell, you could have said Beyond Good and Evil and I would have felt better.
