Mario's greatest foes take the spotlight in this baddie-filled top 25.

25. Wart

Poor Wart. We'll always remember him as the fat toad that despises vegetables and filled in for Bowser in Super Mario Bros 2. This final boss was too easy and not nearly as menacing as other bad guys in the series. He does wear a gold crown though, nice.

Smithy! Oh and the koopalings are from Super Mario World, not Super Mario Bros 3.

Have we all forgotten Smithy, the 45 minute boss battle (30 if you're good)? Or the battle in SMRPG with Culex? Or any of the other exceedingly difficult bosses in SMRPG? How about Birdo?

bowser always pisses me off when i play damn but i guess we all couldent play a game if there wasent a villan WE ALL LOVE MARIO AND LUIGI

@omeganick46 -- If it wasn't Bowser someone would complain that he wasn't first. Who would you put at No. 1 instead?

Yeah, an Goombas also appeared in Link's awakening as well. If you want to get really techinical, the lines of fire that circled around the screens in Bowser's castles in Mario 1, 3 and World also were in Zelda games. Heck, even Link made a cameo in Mario RPG.

Yeah, the author was wrong about mario characters crossing over into Zelda games. There were several, including such characters as goombas, piranha plants, cheep cheeps and chain chomps. These were in Link's Awakening.
