10) The Thing (PS2, Xbox)
A sequel to John Carpenter's intense film, The Thing strands you in the middle of Antarctica and forces you to battle a vicious alien that shape shifts its hosts into disgusting monstrosities. Although you normally have a fire team at the ready, it's impossible to tell whether they're infected. One of them can morph at any time, a grim fact that always keeps you second-guessing their loyalty. On top of that, the snowy atmosphere and disturbing audio will leave you ready to scream like a little schoolgirl the moment a detached head sprouts legs and scurries across the floor.

the original F.E.A.R. should def be on the list. If you played in the dark with the sound turned up just the music and sound and dark areas. I found myself SLOWLY entering rooms and turning corners. It scared me when I went down the latter and you saw the bad guy right there and then I jumped out of my seat and unloaded half a magazine with the sub machine gun when you turned around from going down the latter and he was right in front of you. The game was truly nerv wrecking.
Most of these comments show that people are 'tards. Bioshock not here? Seriously? You have predator vs aliens but no Bioshock...nice. At least The suffering did get some love by some of the posters here as that was a pretty freaky game as well.
Piggy from manhunt scared the living **** out of me
oh and left for dead is really good too ^_^
i agree with the Resident evil fan. seriously #4 scared the **** out of me the 1st time i played it and even back in the day when #2 came out that was scary enough for a 5th grader! im 18 years old and i still jump a little bit. over all the resident evil game series is the best zombie/fps game created!
A list that's actually not a steaming piece of ****? Wow. I'm impressed. The only things I have with it is that F.E.A.R. should have been somewhere on it; maybe not necessarily high up, but definitely somewhere. And also, Condemned 2 shouldn't have been listed combined with Condemned 1; it really isn't scary at all this time.
god every list I see says system shock two is scary, I wanna play it so badly now
Why no Eternal Darkness? That game scared the **** out of me with those creepy voices...
Wtf this list was up in October for Halloween. Can't you amatuer dweebs write new material?
Excuse me guys, but F.E.A.R. ist a diaper full of baby poo. That game was sooo plastic and gave me NOTHING of the thrill I had expected. It was so predictable and clichéd. And it followed a very simple chronological pattern: Action -> "Horror"-> Action -> "Horror" -> Action -> "Horror"... F.E.A.R. is for Buffy fanboys.
