Super Mario Galaxy (Wii, 2007)
Although Mario first broke into 3-D in Super Mario 64, his recent adventure, Super Mario Galaxy, is literally out of this world. Mario explores outer space, soaring through the cosmos, climbing honeycomb while in his Bee Suit and twirling high above the ground. Just watching him run around a planetoid upside down is proof that Nintendo's plumber has come a long way.

i dunno... SMB was really good and all, but Galaxy was phenomenal! i totally love flying around as flying mario, and ADORED all of the amazing graphics and storylines. some of the games here are better in their latter forms, but Unleashed was kinda hokey in my mind. imho, all of the blur's original games are way better. to amandac51096: don't press ya luck, and yeah, this was a great article.
I hate to nit pick, but you said Mario first started out to rescue the Princess in Super Mario Brothers 1985, when in fact he started in in 1980/81 in Donkey Kong doing the same thing, and I agree with Jonnyw your list is so much better when you don't use a count down.

Your articles are so much better when you aren't trying to rank things. Stick to these.
I think they should have done a comparison of the first Final Fantasy and Final Fantasy XIII.
i loved resident evil for ps1
I like to think that Halo: Combat Evolved, is somehow a weird evolution of "Combat" (that old Atari 2600 game)
Eggman is the original Japanese name, and the name "Ivo Robotnik" was created soon afterward as a real name for the nefarious scientist. Eggman became a sort of nickname.
No Robotnic is his original name, pxeggman. Eggman came later on.
