25. Time Crisis (Namco)
A lot of shoot-em-up games ruled the arcade back in the day, but Time Crisis stood out for one specific reason -- a well-implemented foot pedal. Using it to hide behind objects and reload your gun added some strategy to the usual run-and-gun play. Excellent boss fights (particularly your final face-off with the notorious Wild Dog) rule here, too. The game was later ported to the PlayStation and was followed by four sequels, including the more recent Time Crisis 4.

List is a joke! Ninja Turtles should have been higher, and where is Area 51, Jurassic Park, or even Soul Caliber. I understand this is an opinion, but I think this list is incomplete and games are lower than they should have been.
I am not sure how you can have any arcade game list of any length without two of the all time greats: Centipede and (arguably the best of all time) Super Mario Brothers.
Pacman as the number one arcade game is a travesty. Ms. Pacman is better and even that game isn't a Top 5 game. The Simpsons doesn't crack the top 20???Where the HELL is Galaga? Where is Crazy Taxi? 1942? Raiden?? This List needs some revising..
This is obviously just a list of opinion and its clear that these people have gone the path of retro for their overall choices. I definitely would have had Simpsons a bit higher on the list, and favorites such as X-Men, Jurassic Park, and Soul Calibur have been omitted. I would have made a list for best retro arcade and best modern arcade so that these lists could have made more sense. Yes, Pacman>Street Fighter, but not to the same generation.
neuropa83 : You sir, are an idiot. You were obviously not alive when Pac Man was in the arcades.
Whoever decided the top two for this list are ****ing retarted... Pac-man was in no way better than Street Fighter 2.
what about paperboy with the handle bar controls?! and i agree galaga should have been there too.
WHAT ABOUT METAL SLUG?! ITS SO GOOOOOOOOD. IT MAKES ****** ARCADES WORTH GOING TO.
mortal combat should have been in the top 5 :p
Um, Crazy Taxi's in there. Galaga...wow, that was a really tough call. I was sad to omit it but there were too many others...sigh... Star Wars rocked, as did Tron. But...it's really hard narrowing a 25.
