Mortal Kombat
Mortal Kombat is synonymous with controversy, thanks to the bloody fighting game's "fatalities" -- signature finishing moves that include ripping out spines, wrenching heads off bodies or making enemies explode into a pile of gore.
The over-the-top violence made this game one of the most talked about in the world, among both fans and critics, and led to the creation of the Entertainment Software Rating Board (ESRB), the video game equivalent of the MPAA film rating system.

Video games do not make killers or crazy people, nor do they cause terrorism or genocide. If Congress and the media really cared about the American and international public, they would focus on making sure that global warming is reversed, port cities can withstand natural distasters, and voices were used to interact with terrorists rather than guns. If anyone on here cares about the future of their children, think about that stuff instead of video games. I'm tired of AOL and other big internet companies putting minute issues like video games before daily news of how many of our brothers and sisters needlessly die in my city and my world. I'd like to have a world for myself and my brothers, sisters, sons, and daughters to grow up in, try not to destroy it for us.
really with all the violence that's going on in the world today, who needs enemies like you bosos, I say why don't you create something positive , we really need something postive in the world today! and not this slime that comes on video games these days, regardless if it's the responsibility of parents too keep their children away from this garbage, but guess I guess making money from this garbage is more important to you , that's my opinion.
Honestly I am 20 female, a college student, I have a full-time job, a folkstyle wrestler, A coach for elementary and middle school, I have ADHD, I am an indivualist and I have been playing video games since I was 3. Games aren't the reason kids today are being bad, it's because kids these days have no respect and I'll blame it on parents. If I didnt have my videos my stress-level would be through the roof, games are my cool down when things get to become too much. Which could be dangerous because I am a fighter by nature. So I do turn to my games to help me keep from doing something really bad when I get mad or someone angers me. Usually I play videos around winter time when it's too cold for me to go out and run, swim, hike, climb or other out-door activities I enjoy which are also my cool-downs. If they really want to start blaming video games then people really need to look at some of the books that are being read in our elementary schools. Flat stanley books is one of the group that I am having big issues with because in one of the books it has the robbers talking about shooting the cops. Plus the group of books also denotes individualism and how everyone should be alike. The main question that puzzles me is that which one is going to impact a child something from a video game or something they learn in school? I remember an interveiw Marilyn Manson said that he wished he could talk to the kids that are listening to his music just to help them not get to the point with what happened with Columbine. A few of were waiting to see if they would blame what happend with Virgina Tech to be placed on the release of Halo 3. I have seen things seem easier to place the blame on other things besides the real problems.
I don't play video games, but I don't see what the big deal is about them. If some people think some are too violent, fine. There's probably some truth to that opinion, just as there is some truth to the fact that people waste too much time in their lives playing video games. However, for the last fifty years or so millions of people have been wasting time in front of televisions sets. People my age (40-60) need to be reminded of this fact when they start complaining about the younger generation engaging in "moronic activities" like video game playing. As for people being so impressionalbe they will do in reality what they see in fantasy, well... what can be said except that these are people who are mentally unstable to begin with. I'd like to end by saying that though I am in principal not against violent video games (or movies), since I believe censorship is wrong, I do believe that the brain is altered when it is exposed to horrific images. So, we are not only what we eat, we are what we watch... Sam
Iv"e been reading some of this stuff and the dumdass that posted cthat the bible was to blame is eat up with @##%^&%%^&&^&*II*RE
Want your kid to know about violence? Show them a bible and better yet a history book. Religion is the #1 cause of violence in this world...not videogames. All you spindoctors are getting the facts twisted. Maybe there should be more education in video games, maybe kids should just go to school 24/7, and instead of killing other people they'll just commit suicide like all the overworked Japanese students that can't hack it. Video games release people from societies restraints in a controlled environment.
Im a Iraq War Veteran after 16 months in the sandbox and currently 27 years old, All simulation video games are great stress relievers and at the same time tend to calm some nerves of us who are on edge about many things in daily life, In iraq one option to relax was MWR (Military Welfare and Recreation) a tent full of xbox 360's and Playstations and it works to calm most troops and relieve stress faster than any other option that we had there. Ofcourse Video Gaming has been to me just a fantasy scapegoat to myself and knowing the difference of reality is an easy difference. Sometimes I wonder without video gaming how many people would be trying the real things in life that this fantasy simulation does not provide in it's gaming. The answer might be Gaming is not an instigator to do but a preventitive blindfold of simulation to shadow a user's eyes from trying without knowing the outcome to the answer.
It used to be parents cared what went inside their childrens mind. Listen to the language on TV, the sexual suggestions (even commercials) that kids are exposed to everyday and ***ht. Parents taught their kids about life from example and how to be a good honest and hard working and respected adult. Sealing a deal with a handshake is laughed at now and that is sad. I've heard little kids cuss their parents and just down and out defy and even kick and hit their parents and the parent not correct them. These kids are our next leaders. Pljaye, watch and really listen to these kids (I worked in a grade school and high school and believe me these kids could swear a sailor under the table and tell you anything you want to know about sex. I wouldn't trust some of them with my pet rock. There is a reason why some people care about what goes into their kids head. And yes, I taught my kids right from wrong and to be honest. They are well thought of in thier jobs but the one has a spouse hooked on the games.
Everyone says how videogames are bad. They teach bad morals, how shooting is fun, or even being violent can help you survive. I'm a nineteen year old girl and I enjoy videogames. However, I'm not so fond of shooting kinds of games, just because it isn't a variety in the battle. I enjoy Kingdom Hearts, Final Fantasy, which are both very tame to those games. My brothers, 32 and 15, love these games. My older brother works for one of the videogame companies, and yes, he'll still play them. It's not like he's stupid, or unable to function with others, that's just how he finds something that he can enjoy. It's like watching TV. They are both similar except one you can control. Anyway, in the case of my younger brother who enjoys videogames, he is an honor roll student, works hard, and still will listen to our parents and help them. Our parents kept authority about keeping our grades up and making sure we did our homework. Our parents made us, and we feel obligated to please them. I've been watching rated R movies since I was 3, my mom introduced me to IT. I am not a gothic, satan worshipping, killing freak. I am a hard-working college student that will play games like kingdom hearts, or guitar hero in my free time. I wont ever hold a gun to someone's face and I will never hurt an animal.
i think all this talk about kids being violent because of video games is stupid. this world was violent long before games where around. yea some kids are lazy thats just because of bad parenting not video games. if there is blood and nudity in a game that just makes it more realistic thats it not because the creator of the game want an army of mass killers.
