Gordon Freeman, from Half-Life
As a brilliant physicist and symbol of the rebellion, Gordon Freeman has the brains, the babe (Alyx Vance) and the firepower. So why is he so eager to hang up his hazard suit?
- He's forced to do the Time Warp again, again and again
- No matter what, he's still the G-Man's patsy
- He spent years studying to become a theoretical physicist, but ends up being an inter-dimensional gun for hire
- Often needs to run through sewers or smear himself with disgusting Antlion Queen goo

Another biased, worthless countdown.
everyone needs a hug btw :D
All Nintendo fanboys need to go kill themselves. The characters on this list from the Xbox/Xbox 360 games are better and more in depth than Mario or Link could ever be. and Shyguy5775, LEARN to ****ing spell. It's Bungie. not Bungee.
poor gordan freeman..
supposed to be a joke, they arent real life characters, its supposed to be funny, its not putting down any video games, welcome to reality those who are stuck in a fantasy world
Wow, i have hated every single one of these articles ever made, but this one, you guys actually did a good job as to pointing out why some of the most well known and popular hero's of gaming just get either no respect or cant catch a break from anyone, this could be the only article from you guys that i have and ever will like. Well Done. (No Sarcasm, i really liked this one)
This article was hilarious. I can't believe you guys get all your dates wrong though! I mean seriously. Everyone knows Mario came out in 1954. They found it on the space ship that crashed in Roswell. Look it up. Halo 3 was released in 2011. Fanboys stink, Long live game daily.
Lol. wow, okay people. This is my first and probably last time posting on a comment thread, for I feel it's necessary to clarify. To the gamers that have posted: The article is definitely not meant to bash any game or hero.. okay, so the latter slightly. However, it's strictly for comical purposes. The joke is simply the drawbacks of being a hero in a game, and whether you like it or not these are extremely true. It's finding the humor in these great heroes, like even the classical Mario. ALL of the points are ABSOLUTELY true! And that's exactly why you don't want to be in Mario's shoes. At least I know I wouldn't. Peach is probably off on vacation with bowser while Mario busts his ass, and then runs away with him as part of a sick joke... okay not really but it'd be funny, no? Same goes for link. Zelda doesn't make any attempt at showing that she likes him in any way, and it's sadly unrequited for Link :/. And for the people calling all the gamers losers, think about how much one could make for that kind of lifestyle. Getting paid to test out games? talk about kick-ass! Anyway what I'm saying is try not to be so negative and quick to strike peeps.
halo is from bungee not microsoft people lissen if youre going to make a news letter about video games atleast get youre facts right
And where the heck was I when all this arguing was underway?
