Not everything's rosy in Smashville. Before plunking down the cash for Nintendo's fighting game, consider these potential pitfalls.

#5 Mashing buttons equals victory

Say what you will about the different attacks and the interactive stages, but Super Smash Bros. Brawl is nothing but a glorified button masher. We're sure that throwing a well-timed Pokeball will often lead to success, but with so much going on, especially with F-Zero racers knocking into you and waves of lava swallowing everyone up, it'll be difficult to get your bearings, let alone become a hardcore master.

They wanted to make the game family friendly, a bunch of "trash talking" players would spoil the fun for a lot of youths. And all tho button mashing is a way to... play I suppose it will not win you games against players who have the slightest idea of what they are doing. The repeated final smash is a little disapointing but hardly reason for the game to suck... there are few repeats.

wow... ive decided not to get brawl over the fact that 3 characters have the same final smash... wtf? like that spoils the game? when a large number of people arent gonna play with any items when they play seriously?

super smash bros. brawl isn't your average fighting game, so don't treat it like it is one. it isn't "an overglorified button masher", its a game that takes skill to play, which whoever wrote this article obviously didn't have in melee. there aren't many online fighting games (at least on wii) and the few that are don't have leaderboards in them; besides, how would it work? voice chat would ruin this game in my opinion. i suppose that the 3 star fox characters all having the same final smash is a bit much, but you are completely wrong on everything else. brawl will RULE!

I don't see how this game would suck. They are only post-poning it for so long so they can make the game a lot more fun.

You can't compare a smash game to a halo game, which is basically what you are doing. You can't have the same expectations, (btw halo has the worst campaign in the history of life but nobody looks at that), nintendo does their own thing and button mashing in smash? obviously never really played the game.
