#5 Mashing buttons equals victory
Say what you will about the different attacks and the interactive stages, but Super Smash Bros. Brawl is nothing but a glorified button masher. We're sure that throwing a well-timed Pokeball will often lead to success, but with so much going on, especially with F-Zero racers knocking into you and waves of lava swallowing everyone up, it'll be difficult to get your bearings, let alone become a hardcore master.

Those are some rather weak arguments...button mashing will get you killed rather quickly in this game, either because more experienced players will mop the floor with you or because you'll mindlessly throw yourself off the arena. So the three Starfox characters have the same final smash...how often will they get to use it? And actually, they'll be balanced differently. As it was with Melee, I'm guessing Fox will be built more for speed, Falco more for power, and the newcomer, Wolf, will either be the distant end of the power spectrum, or a good medium between the two. Online play isn't the only thing this game has going for it, and given the time Nintendo's had to work on this game, I am confident that if they haven't already resolved the issue, they will shortly after launch. As for online rankings and voice chat...no one really cares. I for one got sick of the 12 year olds practicing their swearing on me (and not doing a good job of it either) and ended up muting any voice chat enabled game I played. Voice chat just isn't that important to me...and if I do manage to hook up with my friends via online combat, I have a myriad of other possible channels to communicate through with them. As for online rankings, seriously, who in their right mind would really care who is the best in their city, state, country, or the world for that matter? It's just a game. If you had any real experience among the gaming community, you would not have made these arguments against the game and be looking forward to it just as much as the rest of us. These five, poorly structured complaints label you rather blatently as a very, VERY casual gamer who does not have as great an insight into the world you are trying in a desperate bid to seem younger and hip to report on. If I had to guess, I would probably say you are a Microsoft fanboy so why even bother trying to trash Nintendo? Just go back to playing Gears of War or Halo 3 and leave the rest of us who see the merits of all three consoles and can make objective observations to do the gamer news.
Oh, and I don't see how leader boards will even work if every online match will be completely random. What's the point? So that guy's at the top of the boards, but what are the odds I'll ever actually fight him and how will I know it's even him to begin with? There are no names online, you have no idea who you are fighting.
Personally, I really enjoyed Melee and I like the fact that Brawl didn't stray too far from it. I don't really care how I match up to every other person in the world. I just want to have a quick, fun fight with my friends or whoever. And if you really want to trash talk someone, invite your friends over. It's true that having three characters with the same final smash sucks, and I don't really agree with some of the character choices ("Toon Link" and R.O.B.? Wtf?), but I don't think those alone will cause the game to suck. All the stuff they added will rock. Atleast it actually has an online mode, so stop complaining, and I can't wait to try out the stage builder.
YES No voice chat! now thats innovation. think about it screw it being family friendly, they must have played halo3 or cod4 on xbox live. if u are any type of true gamer the crap talking gets old true veteran players dont talk crap thier actions do the talking for them, it sux getting on listening to a 10yr old try to talk crap when they are loseing and it happens all the time! thank u nintendo!, next of all so the 3 starfox chars have the same big smash wtf u want to call it, oh well! at least u can choose who u want to look like. button smasher? button smasher? tell me 1 fighting game that cant be called a button smasher, yea u have people who smash buttons u have people who know how to play quitur crying becuz u cant beat a button smasher. and omg no way no online ranking what a shame!, well guess what ull have to keep ur own damn record. who cares what rank u are, ull prove to them who they are messing with on the field not in the ranks. think about it honestly i have played high ranked people in all sorts of games when im honestly no better than mid rank and whooped thier high ranked buttz all over the place. next of all the pic u have up for ranking isnt even real ranking thing in the game, how many people is going to take the time say oh he might be good before the match i want to go see how good he is, no they are going to wait till in the game play the game and leave no one really cares about rank unless u are a no life loser
I'm a miss, moron.
Nintendo fixed the problem with buttonmashing. If you use the same move over and over, it becomes weaker. And to mr. tehaudpirate. MOST PEOPLE DON'T CARE ABOUT ONLINE RANKINGS. Seriously. And Guitar Hero III online worked well enough. So lighten up. I am still looking forward to it.
Wow. You've all clearly jaded your vision with blatant fanboyism and can't see the flows in a game Nintendo could have done thousands of times better. It's obvious that Nintendo's geared the game towards kiddies - but why not have optional voice chat? I mean they had it in Pokemon, where it didn't belong at all, but they can't utilize the feature in Brawl? And who doesn't want online leaderboards after they plow through players on their way to the top? It would generally work the same way as an MMO leaderboard, or Halo or Guitar Hero 3... Oh wait, I forgot - Nintendo completely sucks at online networking in all aspects. Anyways, no matter how many features they add, the game is typically the same as Melee. Note that just because someone didn't enjoy a game, doesn't mean they sucked at it. As a matter of fact, I found it even LESS enjoyable after a while playing it over and over with really.. nothing interesting that I hadn't done before.
Bad games don't sell over 1,000,000 copies in 11 days, which this just did in japan. Sorry guys, do some research before you make an article like this.
May I just say that button mashing doesn't always mean victory. The people I play with are insane, and you need to use actually tact to win which means attempting to predict movements and running everywhere while dodging. If one was to use button mashing...they would be KOed in seconds....no kidding. On another note, I am totally psyched for this game...it can't suck!
Doesn't it come out march 9th i beta tested it it was awsome
