For us, the letters S&M immediately bring to mind dungeons, chains and leather clad women brandishing whips, but it's not so clearly defined. Sadists derive pleasure from embarrassing or hurting others, while masochists are more into inflicting pain on themselves. These are not, however, strictly sexual, and it's possible to arouse the brain with some good old-fashioned torturing. Whether or not it's healthy is certainly debatable, but there's no denying S&M's place in video games, where characters happily maim their victims and players safely satisfy their own erotic and twisted desires.
