Retro Rewind: Mega Man

Mega Man (NES, 1987)

This original NES effort is the one that started it all for Capcom's hero. In the game, six of Dr. Wily's nefarious creations run wild, so Dr. Light builds Mega Man to fight back. Not only does Mega Man feature great shooting and platform action, but it also lets you equip enemy weapons after defeating them. Actually, the game's only negative is its laughable box art. That guy doesn't look like Mega Man.

Most memorable boss: Guts Man.

How Mega was this game?

I loved mega man up until they started "Battle Network" and "Star Force" it's a stupid series now. Give me mega man 1-8 and Mega man X1-4 and ZX and I am happy.

Megaman Legends was totally fun and a new jump to the series, but a lot of people coined it as being more childish especially after the Tron Bonne game, whish kicked my ass on a certain puzzle and it mad me mad... (looks childish, but has some difficult puzzles, at least as I remember being a child) and it seemed like they were trying to put megaman in the next generation of gamers. I could have worked if they advanced on the series. I think a revamp of Legends is in order, with new controls and graphics, it could become a classic and totally outdo and outsell the original. Capcom could pull it off with their r'epertoire of games in the bank to date. Totally new Megaman Legends. I thought the enemies were interesting too. Roll had a big part in the series which added to a new story mechanic. It just worked, but it was too cutesy for some. That's why you became "dark megaman", to counteract the cute. haha I argue, Megaman Legends should have been included, even if they bagged on it.
