Quick Time Events
Although the arcade game Dragon's Lair is made up of Quick Time Events (or QTEs), Sega officially coined the term with its Dreamcast adventure, Shenmue. Little did the company know that the rest of the video game industry was going to copy and abuse its idea. A QTE forces you to make a split second decision to save a video game character and/or trigger an action. One of the more famous ones from Shenmue forces you to quickly press a button to avoid getting hit with a soccer ball. In this case, failing doesn't ruin the story, but you can die in other games, such as the upcoming Bourne Conspiracy. On one hand, QTEs keep us on edge and adrenaline levels high. On the other, developers have overused this feature to the point that we groan whenever a button pops up on screen. Unless there's a way to innovate, the QTE needs to go.

with barrels, there everywhere. some people less fortunett of us move them to a place thats conveinient and light them. then some one alse could come by with some highly explosive material and store it there. impracticle i no, but it might happen...?
Concerning SSBB, You MUST Unlock All Of The Characters BEFORE You Decide To Have A Brawl Party. Duh. Not To Mention, Most People Are Just Excited To Play The Game. They Don't Care What It Takes To Unlock The Other Extra Characters 'Cuz They're Veteran Fighters.
yeah seems like gamedaily is full of whiners. most of the stuff they brought up lots of gamers dont even mind. but the install thing on ps3 pisses me off 2.
o sorry for the double comment, but the fact that you install the updates for the PS3 makes gameplay way better
QTE is awesome, but i do agree with the mandatory tutorial that sometimes doesn't even help. And so what if the games have graphics similar to UTIII. Those graphics are ******* awesome
exploding barrels r placed in some wierd places but there fun to blow up. yes it seems that every time u buy a new game on the ps3, u have to get an update , but doesnt that make it better.............?
I keep seeing a lot of people saying "unlocking characters isn't a flaw," and that's NOT what the article said. Unlocking characters for a multiplayer game that's going to be about a party of people just playing and not unlocking things is bad. Just like the article said, single player unlockables is forgivable, but for multiplayer, it just means that one person has to foot a bunch of effort (yes, I know Brawl doesn't require playing the story mode for characters, but many games do). However, the rest of the article was pretty trash. Then again, we're reading every single page and responding to it. Chris Buffa doesn't care about what we think about the article, but how many hits it gets, and we've already helped him there.
Snake was easy to unlock in Brawl. You just needed to play on Shadow Mosses 15 times then defeat Snake .
Also, why throw away an awesome game engine once its been used on one title? Havoc is pure gold, Source is too. - sorry for double post
this article is garbage, the only legitimate complaint in here is the forced tutorial.
