25. Star Wars: Shadows of the Empire (LucasArts/Nintendo 64)
One of the main reasons we picked up this Nintendo 64 game was for its excellent first level. You fly through Hoth in your snowspeeder, shooting troublesome droids while tripping large AT-AT's with a harpoon gun. Just like in The Empire Strikes Back movie, you circle around them, strap tow cables to their legs and bring those suckers down.

Shadow of collosus was pretty amazing the first stage opens up to this immense world you follow your sun sword to fight probably the biggest game boss ever maybe only GOW has bigger game BOSSES
For those speaking about Shadow of the Colossus. This list is for "FIRST LEVELS" and Shadow of the Colossus, had no levels. So yeah, that's more than likely why it isn't on this list. But it was a fantastic and beautiful game. A game full of nothing but Boss Fights. Heaven.

Super Metroid is the Coolest most FUN game Hands Down!

You missed a really good one for this list! Any of the beginnings to the Sly Cooper games, especially the first! It introduces to the story while also giving you some basics on the characters abilities. Even in Sly 3, they gave you a peek into the future!
what about your first kill in Assassins Creed, , (followed shortly by your first get the hell out run) or finding out that the game is set in the future not the past? or the first Colossus in Shadow of the Colossus, (that was epic, and time consuming btw). and where is Mirror's Edge, first lvl of that game was insane, the chillingly happy bright lvl design with the morbid story line, fantastic. oh, and rofl @ tripp, hardcore gamer doesn't mean you "pwn face" or "teafrag" the idiots at halo for the 8 hours you have outside of Junior High School. it means you play every game you can get your hands on, crappy or not crappy.
