1. Welcome to Sequelville, Population, you.
The game industry has got a big case of sequelitis in 2008, and this holiday season will be fraught with follow-ups to successful series, such as Gears of War 2, Call of Duty: World at War, Skate It!, Tomb Raider: Underworld, Fallout 3, Resistance 2, Rock Band 2 and many others.
Fortunately, a few of these sequels are more than a gold rush-style grab for cash by hungry game publishers. Instead, we're seeing games push the boundaries of what the PlayStation 3, Xbox 360 and Wii can do, including the over-the-top 60-player multiplayer mode for Sony shooter Resistance 2, and cool skateboarding (Skate It!) and snowboarding games (Shaun White Snowboarding) that use the Wii Balance Board.

@digitaldis4ster I know you've been posting on GameDaily quite a bit, which is great. I like people who want to stir the pot... After reading your last post -- I have a challenge for you: if you have such incredible insight and analysis on this industry, let's see it! Give us an "opinion that has ... an opinion." We're waiting...
@scarab: it's unbiased because there's no information behind their opinions. They're just rewriting stuff they've heard on teh intarwebz. I want opinion that has...an opinion. This site could be awesome, it's backed by freaking AOL. It's not some scrub in his mom's house covering E3 from Podunk Ohio. It's a staff of paid professionals who haven't got a clue what they're doing.
@absinthedog I wrote that and I am a woman! I agree that there are more and more lady gamers out there, but there are still a lot of other women who are totally initimated by games, esp the more traditional kind. And, while core gamers criticize Nintendo, the company's still doing a bang-up job at making games for the non-traditional gamer, many of which are ladies.
I enjoy reading these articles, but I will say that this sentence disturbs me every time I see it or something like it: "Nintendo's 2008 catalog will be filled with games that appeal to kids, women, older people, and pretty much any one but gamers that were raised on Nintendo." I can understand older people not being core gamers for the most part. I can understand grouping kids in there -- especially little kids (though Nintendo has been marketing to kids for a long time). What I can't tolerate is throwing "women" in there. There are plenty of women who are core gamers. None of us really appreciate being left out of the "core" category and expected to play games like "cooking mama" and "nintendogs". To be more specific, you could say "women who don't usually play games" or something like that, but don't just say women in general, because it's just not true.
really i have no complaints to this article. the ppl who comment tho most of the time have no idea truly what you guys are talking bout. i love how blogging has suddenly made every person a critic and expert about games that have yet to come out. call of duty world at war for example. just goes to show you ppl just have got to get there word out no matter how ignorant they are.

COD 5 is World at War. They asked for some one wih history of milatry in there ads and annoucned it as the 5th. but activision an infinity ward switch off between games. ACDCmaniac lies
Just to let all of you now the creator of call of duty world at war is not call of duty 5 this game is another catagory call of duty five is in the works this is just a side project for the fun of it
if u really have to complain about what u read in the article, then you should just gtfo rather than picking apart what they put here. Personally I thought it was nice to read an unbiased gaming article.
