Games that Defined the '70s

Pong is one of the first video games ever.

Pong (1972)

While not the first video game, Pong is without question the industry's pimp daddy, laying the foundation for numerous companies to siphon money from our pockets. It's also one of the most simplest and rewarding games, as players maneuver on screen paddles and knock a ball back and forth, the goal to send it past your opponent. Atari transformed Pong into a phenomenon, as arcades and local establishments filled with customers eager to jam quarters into machines. Sure, the company had to fork over several hundred thousand dollars to Sanders/Magnavox for violating their table tennis patent, but that's a small price to pay for taking video games mainstream and becoming THE dominant publisher.
