We prefer the name Peach
Peach hit the video game scene in the 1985 NES classic, Super Mario Bros., except she isn't Peach. Nintendo originally called her Princess Toadstool, the damsel in distress desperately seeking the help of a certain mustachioed plumber. That guy turned out to be Mario (formerly known as Jumpman), who leaped into action to rescue his fair maiden from the clutches of the evil King Koopa, AKA Bowser. Hmmm... seems like Nintendo characters went through a name-changing phase. In fact, Peach didn't become Peach until Super Mario 64, which debuted in 1996.

i've never stopped calling her princess toadstool
"you know your an old school gamer when....." You still call Bowser, King Koopa and Peach, Princess Toadstool. I never understood the name change and am waiting for Luigi to be renamed Pablo.
