Sony delivered a nearly never ending onslaught confirmed rumors and a stack of games that literally had attendees in awe.

Uncharted 2: Among Thieves

Nathan Drake, adventure and relative of explorer Sir Francis Drake, returns for another high-action game with Uncharted 2: Among Thieves. The walkthrough of the game, done by Evan Wells (co-president of Naughty Dog), showed off the top of a building with a pool, a girl and palm trees. The detail, as the developer has continued to promise, looks amazing. Palm trees swayed in the breeze and every surface looked as if it was painstakingly design. But this is a Drake adventure, not art. So he decides to scale the side of the building, called the Hotel Shangri La. The cityscape below and an mountains at the end of sight look equally amazing, as does the dizzying height. The city has issues, it's been bombed or something, fires seem to be in several buildings and smoke from some of them rises up and turns into the horizon. From there, Drake tries to dodge several gun-totting baddies as he jumps to platforms that barely hold him, only made worse when a massive attack chopper decides to take potshots at him. Firefight, then chopper avoidance and then a mix of the two only makes it harder to escape. True, the baddies didn't seem super smart but with many of them firing at the same time, plus the chopper, playing is bound to make you stop blinking. Better yet, Wells announced that the Uncharted 2 multiplayer goes live tonight on PlayStation Network (see you there).

MAG

Last year, the team at Zipper Interactive promised to make a game that supported 256 live players. This year, we assumed they'd announce support for 128. But they didn't, they claimed that the live demo of MAG had 256 players all over Sony playing the game. The game seemed quite detailed during the live demo with all sorts of team mates running about. Each side has a Squad Commander, one player who coordinates air strikes, communicates to troops and has a view of the entire play map where blue vs. red dots pepper the topography. The mission, to blow up a fuel depot, isn't as easy as you'd think. You have to take out heavy artillery, then anti-aircraft guns.... then your choppers come in to secure better spawn points, blow up bunkers and then you might have a chance at taking the depot. Given that the top of the game's countdown clock started around 56:00 minutes, we're going to assume that MAG's missions aren't so short. Looking a little like the Battlefield franchise meets SOCOM universe, MAG's looks like it may be the biggest online first person game ever.

PSP Go!
Kaz Hirai introduced the new PSP with a grin. "We have a couple of names for this device. First, we call it the worst kept secret of the show and we also call it the PSP Go!" The Sony Mylo-looking device hides its D-pad, analog control and buttons on a panel that slides under the screen. First, it ditched the UMD drive and replaces the drive with a 16 GB Flash drive. Second, with WiFi and Bluetooth, players will download all their new games from the PlayStation Store. Third, it arrives in the U.S. on Oct. 1 for $249.99.

Gran Turismo PSP
Kazunori Yamauchi, founder of Polyphony Digital, introduced Gran Turismo PSP to the crowd. Stressing several times that the game was not a scaled down version of the game, he says that the new game runs at 60 frames per second, features 800 cars, 35 tracks and there are 60 variations of those tracks. Single player modes will still have the learn to race modes, standard racing and a mission challenge mode. Plus, the game's got online chops since it will allow up to four players enjoy the new GT in AdHoc mode. Players will also be able to trade and share their cars as few players may have the time required to get all 800. Playable this week by E3 attendees, everyone else will get it on Oct. 1, 2009.

Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker

The legend, Hideo Kojima took the stage to announce, Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker. Set in the 1970s, Kojima-san says that the new game is a true sequel to the Metal Gear storyline and isn't a spin off or side story. To add to the anticipation for the new PSP game, he'll be writing the script for the game, will help produce it and has assigned the MGS4 team to help creating it. Talk about devotion. The story so far, seems to focus on Costa Rica. Small and defenseless, the people seek out defense with other governments. Of course, Solid Snake is just the kinds of guy you'd want to protect your nation and in the trailer... there's at least four Solid Snakes (which is a whole story itself). Peace Walker coming in 2010.

Agent
SCEA's Jack Trenton also unveiled the Rockstar Games is already working on a new and exclusive to PS3 game called Agent. Few details were given but he did state that the game would focus on global espionage during the 1970s.

Assassin's Creed II

Ubisoft took to the stage to show off the new Assassin's Creed II. Picking up where the first game left off, Desmond Miles uses the Animus machine to relive the life of an ancestor during the Italian Renaissance. The game demo, occurring in an old and digitized Venice. While the game's main character doesn't start off as an assassin, he does use the mechanical abilities of Leonard Da Vinci to create items like a flying machine to get him around. Since there were no propellers, the new assassin had to use the upward drafts from fires to keep afloat on his quest for the kill. Armed with new weapons like smoke bombs, double hidden blade kills and the ability to take an enemy's weapon to use against them, Assassin's Creed II is going to sell like crazy when it arrives during Holiday 2009.

The Last Guardian
Introduced the final game the trilogy already 2/3 complete with ico and Shadow of the Colossus, a trailer for the game shows a boy running down the corridor of a massive and seemingly ancient building. A creature, which begins by showing its bird feet starts chase. After the boy seems to accidentally fall off a cliff while running, the creature shows itself... a massive creature with the head of a fox, covered in feathers, four bird feet and growls like a Godzilla. Just then, the creature picks up the young boy, who turns around so pat it and proceeds to climb on it. They're friends. Looking like an offshoot of the movie the Neverending Story, the two play, sneak around and end up exploring a new set of ruins, only to find a bad guy there who tries to take the boy. The boy squirms away, falls down another cliff and wakes up sleeping beside the freaky beast. At the end of the trailer, the creature raises its head as if something is coming... then ends. We have no idea what was going on but it looked beautiful.

God of War 3

Like an introduction is needed. The final chapter of Kratos' bloody affair promises to add closure to the battle of between the gods, the Titans and the angry dude as he attempts to exact his revenge on Zeus. During the live demo, Kratos starts off on a road on the side of a mountain, hacking apart skeletons and there's a nice camera angle shot where he tosses a body into your camera view. After opening a massive doorway, he sees a massive Titan coming up an over the top of the hill as the god Helios tosses fireballs at both you and the Titan from his flaming chariot. With a bunch of creatures to compete against, he makes quick work of all of them except for a Centaur that presents several quick time event challenges that lead up to a kill move where Kratos disembowels the beast. Brutal. Bloody. Brilliant. We can't wait until the game arrives on March 10, 2010.
