Reuters today confirmed that Nintendo's Vice President of Marketing Perrin Kaplan will be resigning her position at the end of the year. This is a major move, as Kaplan is a Nintendo veteran of 15 years.
"I finally will be leaving Nintendo at the end of the year. Until then, I am focused on getting a great transition team in place and handling all of my normal responsibilities as well," Kaplan said in an e-mail to Reuters.
For more than a decade, Kaplan has overseen government affairs, investor relations, internal communications and public relations for Nintendo in the Western Hemisphere. She's part of the company's marketing team and plays a key role in coordinating the Nintendo corporation on a global level.
Kaplan's resignation was first rumored when when Nintendo announced that the sales and marketing staff will be moved out of Redmond, Washington and into new offices in New York and San Francisco. More fuel was added to the fire when a job listing for Kaplan's position appeared online.
With this announcement made official at Nintendo, Kaplan joins the rest of the trio long rumored, then confirmed, to be moving on from Nintendo. George Harrison, Senior Vice President of Marketing and Corporate Communications at Nintendo of America was the first to confirm his departure in September. This was followed by a similar announcement by Beth Llewelyn, Nintendo's Senior Director of Corporate Communications, two weeks later.
