Satoru Iwata, president and CEO of Nintendo, after talking about his company's ideas behind getting into the market of converting a vast pool of up to 149 million non-gamers in the EU, U.S. and Japan into gaming's faithful. One of the ideas he shared was a device called the Wii Vitality Sensor. It's small, wired and it looks like pretty typical pulse sensor you clip on your finger at the doctor's office. The product, being developed for the Wii Vitality Sensor would be used to help players find ways to achieve greater relaxation.

Yes, it's a heart rate gauge. Yes, you feel sleepy just thinking about it.
While Iwata recognized that most games seek to speed up heart rates, he posited, "it may not be long before games let people unwind or make it easier to fall asleep." The long-winded speech itself was enough to produce the effect that the Wii Vitality Team sought to accomplish.
