Nancy Drew has been a long-running game series popular with girls (and women) of all ages. Much like the books that have raised generations of girls, the games star the uber-bright Nancy as she cracks cases by solving puzzles, finding hidden clues, which drives the story forward until the end when she, invariably, cracks the case.
"Our games have such resonance with women of all ages due to the sense of empowerment they feel from being as brilliant as Nancy Drew," Her Interactive CEO Megan Gaiser says.
The new Nancy Drew game, Resorting to Danger, is the second in the Dossier series, a new more 'casual' series designed for players who want a game experience that's easy to pick up, play for a while and then pick up again later, while maintaining production values on par with the other Nancy Drew games.
In Resorting to Danger, Nancy's goes undercover as an assistant at the tony Redondo spa to stop a ne're-do-well from terrorizing the clientele. She does this by solving puzzles, interviewing suspects and digging up clues to find the culprit. The game has six different endings, to encourage players to go back and try again if they're not happy with the ending.
"We believe the traits that define Nancy – gutsy, intelligent, independent – are imparted to players on a very subtle level and ultimately act to increase self-esteem and instill confidence," Gaiser says.
Nancy Drew Dossier: Resort to Danger can be downloaded or purchased at retail for $20 in August, exclusively for PC. The previous game in this series, Nancy Drew Dossier: Lights, Camera Curses! can also be found at the Her Interactive store for $20, along with the other 20 more in-depth games from the long-running Nancy Drew Adventure video game series.
