Officials from newly formed Slapdash Games have informed GameDaily BIZ of their launch onto the casual games scene. Slapdash is "committed to creating compelling casual cross-platform games for all ages and demographics." The studio plans to develop casual titles for PC, next-gen consoles and mobile.
Four of the five founding members of Slapdash come from MumboJumbo, a leader in the casual games space. Scott Hansen, Matthew Molloy, Darren Walker and Chad Woyewodzic have a combined 45 years of development experience.
At MumboJumbo, they created the record-breaking hit Luxor, as well as top selling games Luxor: Amun Rising, Luxor Mah Jong, Luxor 2 and the number one hit Chainz 2: Relinked. The Luxor franchise in particular has seen critical acclaim; Luxor 2 was nominated for Best Puzzle Game and Casual Game of the Year and was the winner of the 2006 Craft Awards for Best Audio and Best Visual Arts by the members of the Casual Games Association.
The fifth founding member, Marcus Hopkins, is a financial key for Slapdash. Hopkins is the acting CEO and he's also the head of game developer Method Solutions, which is providing the initial funding for Slapdash. Method is also "working closely with the team to establish the foundation of the company and keep the development staff's energy directed towards making games."
"The team at Slapdash Games is unmatched in terms of creating fun, addicting games that are embraced by the mass market," commented Hopkins. "I applaud their decision to go out on their own and I look forward to helping them become a formidable force in the casual gaming space."
Slapdash has not shared any details about its upcoming games. The company said that information on its titles would be "announced shortly."
