Microsoft representatives have sent word that effective July 9 Chris Early will lead the Games for Windows – Live initiative as General Manager. Most recently, Early was studio manager for Microsoft Casual Games, and according to Microsoft he's been a "driving force" behind Xbox Live Arcade and MSN Games.
In his new role, Early will "continue to bridge the gap between Xbox Live and Windows, add features and services appropriate to PC gamers, and help developers integrate Games for Windows – Live into their games."
Early has much experience in the PC gaming realm, particularly with respect to multiplayer PC gaming. Early was formerly the chief operating officer and president of GameSpy Industries, and before that he was executive vice president of Mplayer. Microsoft is counting on Early to "drive the product roadmap" for Games for Windows – Live.
Microsoft said that Bryan Trussel will replace Early to lead the company's casual game services.
