A Finnish site pulled a Flash game called Kindergarten Killer from its archives after a recent school shooting.

A gaming site yanked an amateur Flash game called "Kindergarten Killer" from its archives one week after a 22-year-old killed 10 people at a vocational school in Finland.

"We have removed pages from our site that are not necessarily appropriate for younger family members," the Finnish game site, lastenpelit.fi, says in a statement posted on its main page.

Though the game has not been directly linked with the shooting, Kindergarten Killer stars a janitor who roams a school killing young students with a shotgun. The children in the game are also armed and fire back. It's an amateur Flash game with wide distribution across the Web, including popular Flash game site, NewGrounds.com.

"This game is pretty twisted, even if it's a little funny," says NocturneEx, a commenter on the game's Newgrounds page. "I would recommend kids, parents, and teachers stay away from this one... Also, it would[n't] hurt to talk to a shrink about you aggression toward kindergartners."

On September 23, Matti Saari went on a shooting rampage in the school after posting "boastful" video clips on YouTube, says a report by Reuters. This comes on the heels of another school shooting in Finland, when a student shot and killed six of his peers, a school nurse and the principal last November. He also posted videos bragging about his deadly plans. Both gunmen shot themselves after the rampage and died from their injuries.

These incidents bear a striking resemblance to the 1999 Columbine shootings in Colorado. Eric Harris and Dylan Klebold, who also had videos documentation of their activities leading up to the event and, during their rampage, killed 12 students and a teacher before committing suicide.

The video game, 'Doom,' along with movies and "dark music" became the scapegoat for the Columbine duo's behavior, and since then, communities across the globe have remained sensitive about video game content – whether it's an amateur Web game like "Kindergarten Killer" or a professionally made game like Rockstar's Manhunt 2 for Wii, where you use its motion-sensitive to act out executions taking place on screen.

"How many school shootings and school massacres did you hear about back in the 1700s? Or even in the 1950s? Exactly is puzzles you doesn't it? The fact of the matter is is that the more we try to take God out of our government, the more chaos is going to be caused." The reason you didn't have kids running around shooting others is because back then you could actually discipline your children without the fear of having the law come after you..things have greatly changed since way back then and it's not because the lack of God. I'm tired of having "believers" trying to stuff their religion down peoples throats...great if you believe, but leave everyone else to their own choices. Religion is not the problem...proper parenting is and I think it's time the dope smoking, heroin using, drunk ass on the couch at 5pm needs to get up and take responsibility for the actions of their wayward children.

"Some say that their "Uneducated"" - see i know you meant they're "We don't protect our children enough from all the garbage that is out their..." - see i know you meant there "There should be less of these 'power-play' type of games," - there it is!

I'd like to point out that yes, just because your not a christian doesn't mean you don't have morals. I'm a christian, I love God with all my heart. Call me a "Jesus Freak" I don't care. I consider it a compliment. Yes there is ignorance in our schools. Yes there are wars out there in the world, but that's not because of christianity. Most the wars going on right now are between middle east countries, most of who are muslim. Ignorance is a different form in many peoples eyes. Some say that their "Uneducated" I say that they just don't have enough sense to look at whats placed in front of them. You say taking God out of our schools is a good thing right? Well do you remember when this country was first formed. Our whole country was based on God...therefore our schools were also based on God and christianiity was strongly encouraged there. The fact of the matter is is that the more we try to take God out of our government, the more chaos is going to be caused. He's bigger then any problem this country will ever face. He has created the heavens, created the earth, created man, and he has breathed the breath of life into you. My God is bigger then what happened in these schools and my God is bigger then you. So why take an essence so powerful and influential out of our government? It's because of the ignorance you spoke so strongly about.

It seems the game makers are running out of ideas for something to shoot at. Besides having a lightning-speed trigger fimger for a decade or so out of a young still developing mind, the kids are soaking up behaviors of violence as a first knee-jerk reaction to problem solving and thinks in terms of ' Do unto others, before they do unto you' mentality. There should be less of these 'power-play' type of games, which are competitive AGAINST an opponment than games that use more INTUITIVE powers of imagination to HELP others score big time for peace.

Oo. You are patially correct. Ignorance is what causes fights, wars and bigotry HOWEVER. Since we cannot undderstand the difference between TEACH and PREACH we have no religious education for our kids....THIS is what breeds ignorance. UNEDUCATED

I akways said IF I did sumthin crazy like shot up a school or killed myself, I was gonna blame NEW KIDS ON THE BLOCK. bwhahahha IT AINT THE GAME OR MUSIC.. ITS THE PARENTING AND THE MORALS OF THE CHILDREN..

  • jlwinnapa on 10/5/2008 7:40 pm

IF WE BLAME EVERY THING ON VIDEO GAME'S AND TELIVISION WE DONT HAVE TO LOOK AT OURSELVES AS AT FAULT FOR OUR CHILDREN'S CRAZY BEHAVIOR AND THAT MAKES EVEREY THING OK!!

    >"mtandjj It is people without God who do things like this because they have no hope...Parents, School and Churchs are to blame... We don't protect our children enough from all the garbage that is out their..." Let me just call out bulllcrap right now. I'm one of those "people without God" and um last time I checked I had hope and morals still. Just because I don't follow the "Christian" way doesn't mean we are all idiots who go out and kill people for the hell of it. Just because we follow a different faith doesn't make us immoral, igornant, hopeless or anything else you might THINK, we just have a different view on religion and the last time I checked we were allowed to pick our own faith not have something we don't believe in jammed down our throats or told that our faith is wrong and making us ppl who have nothing to live for. So maybe you need to get your "facts" straight.

i think its funny that people say religion should go back to our schools, religion creates ignorance, ignorance creates wars, wars equal death, so ya, lets put christianity back in teh school system and create more intollerance, that will surely keep things like a student going to a jewish school and shooting them o.O
