(2) Did watching the Olympics cut into your gaming time?
It's the other way around. Similar to the other 51 weeks of the year, playing games cuts into my Olympics-watching time. I believe some diving was on the air in my household this past week, but I spent that time re-discovering that Lumines takes forever (aka 30 minutes) to get difficult.
I keep dipping in and out of the Olympics. Britain aren't very good, so it's just sad to see us do so poorly. We do have a surprising number of medals compared to previous years. Bionic Commando has really taken over me, so luckily the internet has allowed me to catch up during a lunch break or whatever. Ah, the internet.
The exact opposite happened to me. My wife was all about the Olympics, so that allotted me some extra time to myself to get more gaming in. Personally, I just don't find watching people running for two and a half hours exciting. And no matter how hard you try, Badminton will never be intense. I did pick up Madden though and played a few games of that. I'm pretty sure we won't ever see American Football in the Olympics. Can you imagine the size difference between the American Team and the Chinese Team?
Most certainly. I've been a huge fan of the Olympics ever since I could remember so I've been staying up until 1AM almost every night watching the Olympics. What can I say, I'm a sucker for 16-year-old girls in leotards. Wait...did I say that out loud? I mean I'm a sucker for 20-year-old guys in leotards. Crap... I just made it worse, didn't I?
Maybe it's the fact that I'm Canadian and only the Winter Olympics excite me (for the hockey, of course). Or maybe I'm bitter as a Torontonian since my city lost the bid for these games but I haven't followed the Olympics in Beijing. While I have been keeping up-to-date with the news and controversies surrounding the games, my time has been so scarce that sitting down to watch an event is next to impossible. By the way, obligatory Team Canada medal count is currently at 13.
Olympics? With the swimming and the running and the jumping? Uhh, yeah ... didn't catch any of that business. No, honestly, I haven't watched any of it. By that admission, everything I've done instead of watching the Olympics has compensated for its absence.
I watched the air rifle competition just because I was in awe of their bizarre uniforms and, yesterday, watched Brazil vs. Brazil in a riveting round of beach volleyball. But, that hasn't had as much impact on my gaming time as The Wire, season 3 DVD boxset.
I've been keeping up with the Olympics online for the most part, so no. I will say that Usain Bolt is a bad, bad man, though.
Confession: I didn't watch the Olympics on purpose this year; if it was on a television I was near, I did peek at it, however. But for the sake of responding with something, I will admit that many years ago, I was the manager of a GameStop in Towson, Maryland. What does that have to do with the Olympics? I took Michael Phelp's reserve for Madden NFL weeks before they named a street after him. True story. And no, ladies, I don't have his phone number. [Ed.'s note: That's a bold-faced lie. Everyone knows you need a phone number, credit card, home address, SSN and rights to your firstborn to pre-order. Stop holding out on us, Chester.]
My work cuts into my gaming time, and now the Olympics are cutting into my work time! So I guess, in a roundabout way, my answer is yes! It's strange...I hate sports, but I love the Olympics. I guess I just can't hold my country pride back while the Olympics are on. It doesn't matter if it's Badminton, Table Tennis, or Water Polo...no matter what is on, I will watch it. I'm watching Volleyball as I'm typing this!

@ageekinthepinkxx thanks, buddy! :) glad to hear positive feedback on the feature.
This feature is great! It's refreshing to see a handful of views from people within the industry. Also, I just wanted to tell Libe that I'm loving 'The Wire' as well. It's definitely one of the best shows I've ever seen. Keep up the great work guys & gals!
