I've been playing Gears of War 2 for quite a while now but I only just got my hands on Resistance 2. Since I can't assume anything about Resistance 2 I'll have to go with Gears of War 2. If I had to guess why it's better ... rumblings from friends in the industry tell me it is very by-the-numbers and the only really exciting part is the co-op objective mode. Also, Microsoft's hype machine is quite impressive (Sup, Halo). Still have to find out for myself, eventually.

I've not played either, but the thing is they are quite different games, so why people compare them is beyond me. But anyway, I'd probably have to say Gears 2 because I enjoyed the multiplayer from the first one (even though I didn't like the main campaign) and could probably get a lot of fun out of GOW2 multiplayer as well.

Gears 2. The first Resistance just didn't grab me, while the original Gears I played through multiple times. Despite an 8 player co-op mode in Resistance 2, it's pretty shallow compared to the integrated co-op experience of Gears.

Tough call, as I like both games quite a bit, but I'm giving the advantage to Gears of War 2. The campaign is a balls-to-the-wall thrill ride, and the tight multiplayer has been significantly expanded for this year's game ... it's just an impressive package. And sales wise, Gears 2 is going to kill Resistance 2 this holiday, there's no question. (But my suggestion would be to play both games if you can.)

Resistance 2 is a great game, but Gears 2 takes the cake -- the game pulsates with a raw energy that you don't feel in Resistance -- plus, how can you resist the Horde co-op mode?

Man, today's HUD is going to get me too much heat! I actually didn't like Gears of War at all, but I loved Resistance. It took me awhile to get into the original Resistance, but by the end, I was really impressed. For me, it's Resistance 2 all the way. If you are talking about sales...Gears of War 2 will take that crown. I think Gears 2 has the bigger buzz, as well as a larger fanbase.

That's an easy decision for gamers who just have a PS3 or Xbox 360. If you are (un)lucky to own both, then it could be a very tough decision. From my past experience, I played GoW a lot more than I did Resistance, so I'll probably go for GoW2. Although I'd happily accept a copy of Resistance 2.

Damn you, HUD! Making me choose – eager to get some of that red meat coverage. Fine, I'll bite: for ME, I can't help but vote Gears 2. Considering co-op and multiplayer are such integral parts of these two games, the PS3's experience just doesn't compare to the Xbox 360's (and even less so come Nov. 19th with the introduction of the NXE and its superb "party system

Gears 2 wins the award of Game I Finished Playing Named Gears of War Or Resistance 2. When I finish R2, I'll let you know which is better. Which would I bet on? Gears development studio Epic has made Game of the Year contenders before. R2 development studio Insomniac, while extremely talented, has not.

I'm going to punt on this, because I haven't finished Resistance 2's campaign. I will say that Gears 2's Horde mode will be the cause of many long nights, and deservedly so.
