Week 13: Big Games Coming
It has begun. The avalanche of AAA holiday games has arrived. This week, we pit Gears against Resistance, find out the most anticipated fall games, and compare last year's holiday list to this year's. Now if you'll excuse me, I have some games to play. - Robin
(1) One game you have been playing this week and what you are accomplishing/trying to accomplish in it.
I've had my hands on Gears of War 2 for a while and while I've already blazed through it for review, I've been going back to capture video for special features that are available on Xbox360Fanboy.com. Basically, I can't enjoy it because I'm too busy working!
Guitar Hero World Tour. Activision sent me it early so I've been having some fun with that all week. I'm very uncreative so my skills with the Music Editor are poor, to say the least ,as are my drumming skills. They've nicely made bass more fun to play by adding an open note which makes it a bit more difficult. I'm currently just trying to make my way through the different instrument campaigns as well as having proved that I'm terrible at drumming to Nick Chester.
DeadSpace. At this point I just want to finish it so I can move on to Fallout 3.
I've been playing WWE Smackdown vs. Raw 2009 on the Xbox 360 for review. My created wrestlers, Raul Ghoul -- an ashen-skinned, scarred monster of a man -- is working his way through the ranks, currently holding the Intercontinental Champsionhip Belt. I'm aiming to be the ugliest World Champion the WWE has ever seen.
I'm still playing Fallout 3 and am on a mad hunt for Bobbleheads.
I can't stop playing Castlevania: Order of Ecclesia. I am a huge fan of the series, and OoE is one of the best entries in years. I know some people will pick me apart for this, but I think it's better than Symphony of the Night! The only thing I am trying to do is finish the game, and get the good ending. I am taking my time, and enjoying every bit of it!
Fallout 3. I had a blast with the overall experience and how I was sucked into the game as soon as it began. There were times I'd be walking around in the wasteland, next thing I knew I was being attacked by a rabid dog. No matter how much I tried to prepare myself, I always jumped whenever I was attacked unexpectedly.
With a stack of games demanding long-term investments staring at me (yes you, Fable 2 and Fallout 3 ... and Far Cry 2), in a moment of weakness I consoled myself in the arms of two giant space marine types: Marcus and Dom. They're comforting, familiar ... even a touch boring, but that's what I was looking for. Y'know?
Fable II -- tried to finish it before the election. I failed. Wound up beating it between the election being called (I had paused for that) and McCain conceding less than an hour later.
I've been playing Left 4 Dead. Right now, I'm trying to complete each of the five campaign scenarios, and connect with the handful of journalists and PR people who have the game for co-op play.
